Window Moisture Does Not Have To Be A Problem

May 31, 2009 by Home Repair · Leave a Comment

by Angie Meza When you see moisture on a window, probably your first reaction would be to wipe it away, to ignore it or to allow it to dry. Ignoring such a problem can lead to costly bills in the future, however as window moisture can seep into the wood which surrounds the window. At the least this might cause weakness in the insulation, or even cause the window wood to rot. Water vapor mixing with air causes your windows to “sweat”. This occurs when the window surface is a different tempera

5 Stars Home Depot Home Improvement
I was very happy to locate this book. I was told my Home Depot staff that the books would no longer be published because they were going to be putting all the material on DVD’s. Thanks Amazon.com and the sellers for coming through again.

5 Stars Worth It!
I gave this book as a gift to my brother when he bought 70 year-old home. He said it paid for itself in the first week of having it! He was able to solve a plumbing problem by following the book’s advice and purchasing a $5 part, rather than paying for a plumber!

5 Stars Very Helpful
If you are a decent handy man, this book is your ultimate guide to start the project. If you are a pro, I am not sure if this book applies to your needs. For me it was perfect.

I would highly recommend it.

1 Star Disappointed in new edition
I purchased a previous edition of this book and used it to replace a deck and to prepare a house that I was putting up for sale. I found that edition very useful. I just purchased this new edition and found that it had been edited (censored) and was missing at least one key section..the section with step by step instructions for replacing a deck was completely gone…nothing at all about decks…not even basic repairs or maintainance…I can only imagine this section was removed so that readers will be forced to employ contractors instead of doing the work themselves…I am very disappoined that Home Depot chose to short change their customers and I encourage readers to buy the previous edition of the book…note..the table of contents listed on Amazon still shows a section on decks…the actual book does not have this section.

by Tal Potishman The concept of underfloor heating was developed 2,000 years ago when the early Romans used furnaces in cellars and other open spaces underneath floors to warm their ground floors. This ancient home heating technique has evolved into the water- and electricity-based underfloor heating that so many homeowners are using and enjoying today. Underfloor heating utilises both radiant and convection heat. Within the floors structure are electric heating cables or pipes transportin

Saving the Worlds Water Supply

May 31, 2009 by Home Repair · Leave a Comment

by Tal Potishman The worlds water supply is receiving significant attention recently, and with good reason. Water is our most precious resource, but it has been mismanaged, wasted, and poorly distributed for decades, leading to shortages in many areas of the world. The worlds population today consists of more than six billion people, which is double the population in 1950. Water usage across the globe has tripled during this same time, leading to the current statistic indicating that one-th
